What's at the Library? - Resources

There are many valuable resources available in the library, such as books, ebooks, CDs, DVDs, magazines, games, computers, internet access, microfilm, maps, and more.


Books

Libraries have books of various categories such as fable, fiction and context. But some take special collections of rare books, manuscripts and maps. For example, in the Library of Congress, there is a collection of 800,000 rare books and special collections till the date of 15th century. Such collections are valuable resources that reflect the early American explorers, cultural figures, and the minds of politicians.

Ebooks

76 percent of the library offers e-books, up from 38 percent in 2007. Thirty-nine percent of e-readers in the library offer to check out!

Magazine

Magazine collection can be found in most libraries This collection covers many topics ranging from business to life, offering a fun reading, offering your library or offering sports illustrated. For food items that enjoy cooking, titles such as cooking lights may be available.

Children can flip through the shiny pages of Ranger Rick while older adults can browse the latest issue of seniority. From new parents to dog lovers, many library magazines do meet your interest

Movies

Save your money by choosing your weekend movie in your local library and cut it at work time. You can have a library class for DVD entertainment and education.

Bond with your children while watching Blockbuster like Iron Man, pick up the document that you mean for watching whether you are informative films such as Equality: a woman's movement in the US, or foreign movies such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon , Libraries have a great place to explore for them.

Music

If you do not have any computers, copiers, or printers at home, you can access these techniques in your local library. Whether you want to print a grocery list, send e-mail or print documents, there can be resources to help libraries.

Internet and free Wi-Fi

Most libraries use the free internet, and 62 percent of libraries report that their community is the only provider of free internet access. You can use your local library's internet carrierbiller or craigslist to hunt jobs on sites, check music locations, or take the time to show for movies. Internet is a great resource for finding information for school or business projects. If you do not have any internet connection at home, then take advantage of this resource in a library with you.

Study rooms

Finding quiet time for work or school can be difficult but it is possible. Many library-public, academic or otherwise study rooms where you can find a quiet place where you need to complete things.

Programs / Workshops

The library provides several programs for its communities, the purpose of these programs is to promote cultural understanding and to encourage participation from the community. Programs offered in libraries may be different, for example, the Harold Washington Library of Chicago hosts English as the second language (ESL) programs every month, while the Seattle Public Library on every Tuesday of the month Offers its ESL program. Other programs offered by libraries include storytime for children, arts and crafts workshops and computer workshops.

Special Events

Do not forget about monthly concerts and exhibitions which offer some libraries!
